Seed quality bears a direct influence on the quality of the plant, necessitating seed and agricultural research institutes to inspect and evaluate seed quality. Accurate information relating to various seed parameters, especially physical parameters, is essential in this regard. While research organizations require seed dimensions for assessing yield, seed processing units require this information for designing machinery for seed processing.

The Seed Analyser from ImageProVision is a simple, useful product in this analysis, replacing tedious, manual tasks with simple automated technology for speed, accuracy and efficiency.

Since the stage of seed maturity is another important factor in assessing seed quality, we are in the process of developing software that performs this critical analysis as well.

Technical Overview

The Seed Analyser is a unique, innovative system developed by ImageProVision Technology Pvt. Ltd., comprising the seed analyser setup unit and the software. The Seed Analyser is a compact steel box bearing a weighing machine, backlit unit and a set of cameras. The versatile setup enables necessary adjustments for accommodating seeds of varying sizes. The unique combination of strategically placed cameras and the LED light source generate images of the seeds for analysis. The software captures seed images and analyses the physical properties of the seeds.

The seeds to be analysed are placed on the backlight portion of the seed analyser box. The seed analyser unit is connected to a computer via three links - one from the weighing box and the other two from the two cameras. A live feed of the seed may be viewed on the computer, as the software analyses the seed for its physical parameters and records them. The physical parameters of the seed are analysed automatically and a report is generated instantaneously. The software allows users to save the reports and images for future reference and further analysis.
